Turn, for 16 string instruments (2021)

 Another example of the 'mixer form' I developed, in which a viscous soundmass is shaped by continuously adjusting the ratios of volume, tempo and intonation. The 16 parts are staggered over four and a half octaves. The formation processes take place within each of the individual parts in periods of 30 seconds, with the entries shifted by two seconds each.
 The processes of acceleration and deceleration take place in a total of 16 phases, from 3/2 to 3/32 and back; each part begins in a different phase of the cycle, so that all stages are always present simultaneously. The dynamics swell and decay every 30 seconds; due to the two-second phase shift, the processes within the sound body are in opposition; i.e., the center of gravity moves from bottom to top and back during each minute. The tonal relationships are formed by the processes of stretching and compressing individual intervals. The starting position is a diatonic cluster of thirty-two naturals, which are transposed from bar to bar through all keys in microtonal steps, adding up to a semitone within a period.
 In the sound result, the dynamic wave motion creates a kind of zoom effect. The listener can observe the sound mass alternately from different perspectives: from below, from above and from the center. The changes in speed ratios and 'tonality' that take place beneath the surface of the sound waves only become apparent very gradually.

Turn, für 16 Streichinstrumente (2021)

 Ein weiteres Beispiel der von mir entwickelten 'Mixer-Form', bei eine zähflüssige Klangmasse durch stufenlose Regelung der Verhältnisse von Lautstärke, Geschwindigkeit und Intonation, geformt wird. Die 16 Stimmen sind über viereinhalb Oktaven gestaffelt. Die Formprozesse vollziehen sich innerhalb der einzelnen Stimmen jeweils in Perioden von 30 Sekunden, wobei die Einsätze jeweils um zwei Sekunden verschoben sind.
 Die Prozesse der Beschleunigung und Verlangsamung vollziehen sich in insgesamt 16 Phasen, von 3/2 auf 3/32 und zurück; wobei jede Stimme in einer anderen Phase des Zyklus einsetzt, sodaß sämliche Stadien immer gleichzeitig präsent sind. Die Dynamik schwillt alle 30 Sekunden jeweils an und ab; durch die zweisekündige Phasenverschiebung sind die Prozesse innerhalb des Klangkörpers gegenläufig; d.h. der Schwerpunkt wandert während jeder Minute von Unten nach Oben und zurück. Die Tonverhältnisse werden über die Prozesse des Dehnens und Stauchens einzelner Intervalle geformt. Ausgangsposition ist ein diatonischer Cluster aus zweiunddreißig Stammtönen, die von Takt zu Takt durch sämtliche Tonarten hindurch, in mikrotonalen Schritten transponiert werden, die sich innerhalb eine Periode jeweils zu einem Halbton addieren.
 Im klingenden Ergebnis erzeugt die dynamische Wellenbewegung eine Art Zoom-Effekt. Der Hörer kann dabei die Klangmasse abwechselnd aus unterschiedlicher Perspektiv beobachten: von Unten, von Oben oder aus der Mitte heraus. Die Veränderungen der Geschwindigkeitsverhältnisse und der 'Tonalität', die sich unter der Oberfläche der Klangwellen vollziehen, kommen dabei erst ganz allmählich zum Bewußtsein.
 Uraufführung 2022 auf dem Festival Transparent Sound, Budapest, durch das Giusto Kammerorchester. Die vorliegende Aufnahme wurde von Inspired Symphony in den Pannonia Studions, Budapest, eingespielt.
